Pre-privatisation, British Rail operated all of the Class 153s under their Regional Railways division, the units appearing on many branch lines throughout the Midlands, Wales and Northern England.
Unit 153368 was supplied new in December 1991 to First Great Western under lease from Angel Trains.
Based initially at Cardiff depot, 153368 is now based at Exeter and is equipped with the Richmond 2+2 seating.
