Nationalisation in 1948 had very little effect on Terrier 2636, the Newhaven Harbour based locomotive not receiving the new BR lined black livery and renumbering to 32636 until June 1950.
Now the oldest locomotive on the Southern Region, the locomotive even received BR Diesel style numbering when repainted at Eastleigh in April 1962. Before heading into preservation in 1964, 32636 hauled the ‘Hayling Farewell’ on 3 November, 1963.
